Gdańsk in region
Poland is divided into 16 voivodeships, which are the highest-level administrative divisions. They can also be translated as provinces. Gdańsk located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship and is the capital of the entire province.
Gdańsk is a city located on the Baltic coast of northern Poland. It's one of the country's principal seaports and a prominent city in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Gdańsk sits at the mouth of the Vistula River, which is the longest river in Poland, and it forms part of the larger metropolitan area of the Tricity (Trójmiasto), which also includes Gdynia and Sopot. The city has a rich history as a major center of commerce and trade within the Hanseatic League, and it has played an important role in the historical and political landscape of Europe, particularly as the birthplace of the Solidarity movement in the 1980s.
You can travel to Warsaw, the capital, by 3-hour train ride.
